The first store specializing in hi-fi. A 200 m² space dedicated to sound enthusiasts, offering power amplifiers, cassette and vinyl turntables, as well as a selection of loudspeakers. Behind the counter, a single salesperson advises customers on 100 carefully selected products.
In the 1980s, HiFi International set up store in Hollerich, making its mark with its iconic store and helicopter visible from afar. Over the next 20 years, the site became a landmark for hi-fi enthusiasts.
The brand evolved with the times, introducing imaging in the 80s, IT in the 90s, and then photography and services after its takeover by Photo Hall Belgium at the end of the decade.
Twenty years later, the head office and depot moved from Hollerich to Bettembourg, close to major motorways. At its peak, the company had up to twenty stores simultaneously in Luxembourg and France.
In 2006, the brand inaugurates the Mégastore in Bertrange, a 3,000 m² space spread over three floors. The opening marks the introduction of home appliances to HiFi international. The first floor is dedicated to household appliances, the second floor to image and sound, and the second floor to computers, photography and telephony, a configuration that continues to this day. The store became the company's largest, with the largest sales team.
In 2012, HiFi international joined the Belgian Krëfel group, which specializes in multimedia and home appliances. Two years later, in 2014, HiFi strengthens its presence in Luxembourg by acquiring the country's three Darty stores. In 2019, the French Boulanger group acquired Krëfel and HiFi, integrating these brands into its network while preserving their local identity.
In 2018, HiFi international moved its administrative and logistics headquarters to Contern, into a modern 8,000 m² building, including a 6,000 m² two-storey warehouse. This investment is designed to support the company's growth and optimize its operational efficiency.
For 50 years, HiFi international has established itself as the leader in the sale of home appliances, multimedia, computing, and TVs. With 9 stores across Luxembourg and a high-performing e-commerce site, we offer more than 10,000 products, in partnership with the biggest brands.
