We assure you that we attach great importance to the protection of your personal data. We invite you to read through this privacy policy. It tells you what personal data we collect about you, why we collect it, how long we keep it and how you can exercise your rights in this respect.

Article 1 - Liability
HIFI international S.A., whose registered office is at 2 Rue Läiteschbaach, L-5324 Contern, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, registered for VAT under number LU 190.388.17 (hereinafter "HIFI international", "we", "us", "our") is the data controller. In other words, HIFI international determines the purpose and means of processing personal data.

Article 2 - Personal data
When you use our services and applications, we may obtain personal data about you. In particular in the following cases:

  • you go to our website (see also our "cookies policy");

  • you register on our website, on a social media platform or at a point of sale, for example when you place an order, purchase a product from the HIFI international range, submit a request for a spare part or repair or contact our customer service department;

  • you enter our competitions or promotions.

We may obtain the following personal data about you:

  • your customer data (e.g. surname, first name, user name, password for your HIFI international account, [delivery] address, e-mail address, telephone number, billing data, purchase history, means of payment used, customer service contact history);

  • other personal data, such as your user name on a social media site, your date of birth or the data you give us when you register for a competition or promotional action.

Article 3 - Purposes of processing

General aims

HIFI international will use your personal data for the following general purposes:

  • In order to provide you with the service you have requested

We collect certain personal data about you in order to be able to provide you with the service you have requested (for example, your delivery address in the context of a delivery, your invoicing data in order to be able to invoice you correctly or the profile data of your HIFI international account with regard to the use you make of our website).

  • To meet certain legal obligations

In certain cases, the law requires us to collect and retain certain personal data about you. For example, in certain circumstances, we are legally obliged to issue an invoice and to keep it (for example in the case of distance selling). We will therefore ask you to provide us with your invoicing details.

Furthermore, it is possible in certain rare cases that HIFI international may be obliged to reveal your personal data following a legal decision or in order to comply with an imperative law or regulation. HIFI international will always try to inform you of this, unless this is not possible due to legal obligations.

  • In order to detect and combat fraud and abuse

We carry out various checks in the context of detecting and combating fraud and breaches. For example, we can determine whether a payment has been accepted before delivering a product to a customer.
In addition, our offices and points of sale are equipped with a camera surveillance system to guarantee the safety of people and goods. The presence of a camera surveillance system is always indicated at the entrance to our offices or points of sale.

  • To improve our services and processes

We evaluate our services and processes based on your contacts with our staff. In order to improve these services and processes, we also carry out trend analyses based on anonymised and aggregated data.

Marketing direct et prospection
If you have given us permission, we have the right to use your data for canvassing purposes. You can withdraw this authorisation at any time, without giving any reason and free of charge, for example by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided for this purpose at the bottom of each promotional e-mail or by contacting HIFI international by e-mail at privacy@hifi.lu or by post (For the attention of HIFI international - Data Protection Officer, 2 Rue Läiteschbaach, L5324 Contern).

Article 4 - Transfer to third parties
HIFI international undertakes not to sell, rent or distribute your personal data or to make them available to third parties for commercial purposes, except in the aforementioned cases or with your prior consent.

In the event of a reorganisation or transfer - in whole or in part - of the activities of HIFI international, your data may then be transferred to other entities or third parties through whom the operational activities of HIFI international will then be assumed, in whole or in part. We will try to inform you of this in advance.

Article 5 - Duration of treatment
We do not keep your personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. The length of time we keep your personal data may vary depending on the purpose for which we use it. For example, HIFI international is legally obliged to keep invoices issued for 10 years. Furthermore, we consider that it is necessary from a legal point of view to keep certain data as evidence in the event of a dispute for a maximum period of 10 years.

Article 6 - Your rights and how to exercise them

  • Access rights

You have the right, at any time and free of charge, to find out what personal data we process about you and to obtain further information on this subject.

  • Right to rectification, deletion and restriction of processing

You are free to decide whether or not to share your personal data with HIFI international. Furthermore, you have the right to ask us to rectify or complete your personal data. You also have the right to request the deletion of this data. In this case, you should bear in mind that certain products and services can no longer be offered to you. For example, if you lose your proof of purchase, we will no longer be able to determine whether or not the legal guarantee period has expired.
You may also request that we limit the processing of your personal data.

  • Deleting your Personal Data: Procedure

You may request the deletion of your personal data at any time. Your request should be sent by e-mail to privacy@hifi.lu .

  • Right to object

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data on serious and legitimate grounds.
You also have the right to object to the use of your personal data for canvassing purposes. In this case, you do not need to justify your request.   • Right to free data portability

You have the right to request that your personal data processed by us be provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and/or transferred to another controller.

  • Right to withdraw your authorisation

Insofar as the processing is subject to your prior authorisation, you have the right to withdraw this authorisation.   • Exercising your rights

You can also exercise your rights in writing through us, by contacting us by post (For the attention of HIFI international - Data Protection Officer, 2 Rue Läiteschbaach, L5324 Contern) or by e-mail (privacy@hifi.lu). If you exercise your rights in writing, we ask you to attach a copy of the front of your identity card to your request. We will only use this copy to verify your identity.

Article 7 - Automated decision-making and profiling
In principle, we will not use your personal data for profiling purposes or automated decision-making.

Article 8 - Right to lodge a complaintI

Article 9 - Security and confidentiality
We have implemented various appropriate technical and organisational security mechanisms in order to prevent the destruction, loss, alteration or modification of the personal data collected, as well as unauthorised access to this data, its erroneous communication to third parties or its submission to any other form of unauthorised processing.
Under no circumstances can HIFI international be held liable for any damage - direct or indirect - arising from the wrongful or unauthorised use of your personal data by a third party.
We would also like to remind you that you are solely responsible for the use that is made of the website from your computer, your IP address and using your identifiers, as well as for the confidentiality of this data. We advise you to take all necessary security precautions, including preventing unauthorised access to your user name and password.

Article 10 - Access by third parties
We do not pass on your personal data to third parties for commercial purposes.
In order to be able to process your personal data, we make this data accessible to our employees and to companies that we have commissioned. We guarantee an equivalent level of protection by subjecting these companies to enforceable contractual obligations.
