EXTENDED WARRANTY GENERAL CONDITIONS (EN)
1/ What does the extended warranty insurance cover?
Repair costs in Belgium and/or Luxembourg for a defect (electrical, electronic or mechanical), which is covered by the manufacturer's warranty conditions and which prevents normal use of the device. These repair costs include essential spare parts and labor costs necessary for repairing the defect. For built-in appliances and large household appliances, the travel costs in Belgium and/or Luxembourg of the repairer designated by Hifi are also compensated.
From 43 inches onwards, televisions are repaired at home. Smaller formats must be returned to the store for repair unless the manufacturer also performs home repair for smaller formats. This is prescribed in the manufacturer's own warranty conditions.
If repair costs are higher than the residual value of the device, the device is considered economically irreparable and the residual value will be paid, after which the Extended Warranty ends. If the spare part necessary for repairing the device is no longer available and the device is therefore declared irreparable, the residual value will also be reimbursed in this case. This residual value equals the purchase value of the device minus 1% per month from the delivery date. Payment of this residual value will only be made in one of the Hifi International stores in the form of a purchase voucher and exclusively upon return of the defective device.
Hifi International reserves the right to replace the defective device in kind with an equivalent new device.
2/ Conditions to be met to benefit from the Extended Warranty insurance?
The Extended Warranty can only be validly obtained at the time of purchasing a new device in a Hifi International store. It is only valid for the first buyer of the device and is non-transferable.
The device may only be used in Belgium or Luxembourg.
Payment of the Extended Warranty premium and signing of the Extended Warranty insurance contract must have taken place at the time of purchasing the device and before the defect appears.
The Extended Warranty starts at the end of the legal warranty and extends it up to 3 years from the delivery date. The total warranty duration (legal warranty + extended warranty) therefore extends to 3 years.
During the first 2 years following the delivery date, there is additional warranty to the legal warranty: extension of the legal presumption of defect existing at the delivery date. This warranty will intervene if, at least 6 months after delivery, the customer can prove non-conformity, but cannot prove that the defect existed at the time of delivery (also provided by the law of 21/04/2004). During the period of the first 2 years following the delivery date, coverage is also acquired in case of failure of the manufacturer or supplier of Hifi International.
No prior repair may have been carried out by anyone other than the repairer designated by Hifi International.
Compliance with the defect procedure mentioned in point 4.
Repair costs amounting to more than €250 are only compensated with an authorization code. This authorization code must be requested by phone from the Extended Warranty service, at +352 40 24 24 544 during business hours: from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
3/ The extended warranty insurance for the device does not apply to the following points:
Regarding cleaning costs, accessories and parts of the device that require, as a result of use and/or normal wear of the device, periodic replacement (vacuum cleaner filter, kitchen robot blades, SIM cards and memory cards, etc.)
In case of damage resulting from information loss, computer-related failure or software misuse.
In case of possible damage to objects inside the device (food in a fridge, clothes in a washing machine or dryer, videotape in a VCR, disc in a DVD player, etc.) or loss and/or damage to software and files.
In case of damage caused by use of the device not in accordance with the manufacturer's prescriptions (misuse and/or installation, lack of care, negligence, etc.)
In case of modifications that change the state of the device as it was at the time of purchase.
In case of defects resulting from fire, water damage, condensation, lightning, explosion, use of the device in an environment detrimental to its normal operation, use of the device in a place where water, gas or electricity installation is inadequate or non-compliant.
In case of defects caused by an external element (third parties, foreign object, animals, etc.)
In case of commercial, professional and/or collective use of the device.
In case of use and/or repair of the device outside Belgium and/or Luxembourg.
4/ What to do in case of a problem?
First consult your user manual to determine if the defect is not due to misuse of the device.
For large appliances, contact Hifi International's after-sales service at +352 40 24 24 544. State your name, your Extended Warranty contract number, the type of device and a brief description of the defect.
For small appliances, you are asked to bring them to your Hifi International store.
