The Big Collect service is now available every day of the year. This is another opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of recycling. In addition to giving a second life to household appliances, we emphasise the need to pay particular attention to certain appliances that contain polluting materials. For example, smartphone batteries are one of the sources of accumulation in the environment of certain heavy materials and other chemicals that can lead to soil contamination and water pollution. The gas contained in a refrigerator engine is also very polluting: a badly recycled fridge is equivalent to the pollution of a 7,500 kilometre car journey.
