Dyson’s latest innovation in hair science is the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener, enabling wet-to-dry straightening using air, without hot plates and without heat damage. Traditional tools damage hair through heat, but the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener features a precise directional airflow that allows it to dry and straighten simultaneously from wet. Simplify your routine to quickly achieve a sleek, natural style with a smooth, shiny finish.

Designed for all hair types, it delivers a natural, sleek look with volume and movement, while preserving the hair’s strength and healthy appearance. Hair is held by two arms, from which a high-pressure airflow is precisely directed downward onto the hair, allowing it to dry and straighten at the same time, with one tool.

Advanced technology

• Precision air jets
  Along the arms of the straightener are two 1.5 mm openings. Airflow is accelerated through these openings, creating two high-velocity downward air jets. Projected at a 45° angle, they converge into a single concentrated airflow, generating the downward force needed to straighten hair as it dries, with control.
• Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor
  The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener is powered by the Hyperdymium™ motor. It is small, lightweight, and powerful enough to generate the airflow required to dry and straighten hair simultaneously while wet. A 13-blade impeller spins up to 106,000 rpm, pushing more than 11.9 liters of air per second. This generates up to 3.5 kPa of air pressure—sufficient for styling. At 27 mm, the motor is small enough to fit in the handle, without compromising power.
• Intelligent heat control
  Like the rest of the Dyson Hair Care range, the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener features an intelligent heat control system. Glass bead thermistors measure the airflow temperature 16 times per second to prevent heat damage and protect the hair’s natural shine. These readings are sent to the microprocessor, which regulates the heating element to ensure airflow never exceeds the required temperature.

User testing

User trials
During the development of the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener, we gathered the largest dataset ever collected during user trials. We discovered that users sometimes found the airflow from the device unpleasant. This led to the creation of our diffusers, which direct air away from the user and spread heat more comfortably. The diffuser fins are positioned along the X, Y, and Z axes to direct thermal mass away from the user during styling, while ensuring excellent root drying performance.

Two styling modes

The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener features “Wet” and “Dry” styling modes and a “Cold shot” mode to set your style.

• “Wet” mode: three heat settings – 80°C, 110°C, and 140°C
• “Dry” mode: choose between 120°C, 140°C or Boost mode
