Update to the European Energy Label for Tumble Dryers from July 2025.
From July 1, 2025, all tumble dryers sold in the European market will exclusively feature the new European energy label. The old "plus" classes (A+, A++, A+++) will be replaced by a clearer scale ranging from A (very efficient) to G (less efficient). This change aims to make energy consumption easier to understand for consumers.
Key points about the new label:
Dual labeling during transition: Since March 2025, new tumble dryers come with both the old and new labels. This transition ends on June 30, 2025. From July 1, only the new label is permitted.
Sale of existing stock: Appliances produced before March 1, 2025, can still be sold, provided they are fitted with the new label as soon as possible. If this is not possible (e.g., if the supplier is no longer in business), sales with the old label are allowed until March 31, 2026.
Main changes:
Energy consumption:
Old label: annual consumption (kWh) based on 160 cycles, less transparent.
New label: consumption per 100 Eco cycles, more understandable.
Programme duration:
Old label: duration of standard cotton programme at full load.
New label: duration of Eco programme at full load.
Condensation efficiency (for condenser dryers):
Old label: classes from A (best) to G (worst).
New label: classes from A to D.
Noise level:
Both labels indicate volume in dB.
The new label adds a noise emission class from A (very low) to D (very high).

Important when comparing models
Do not confuse the two labels when comparing models, as measurement methods and consumption indications have also changed.
